IMPORTANT: Since 01.01.2022, all RURAL PRODUCT NOTES (CPR) issued with a value equal to or greater than R$ 250,000.00 are subject to mandatory registration with entities authorized by Bacen for the purposes of validity and effectiveness of the title.

Mandatory registration for the purposes of validity and effectiveness of the CPR

In 2020, the Agro Law (Law No. 13,986/2020) changed important provisions of Law 8,929/94, which instituted the CPR, including the issue related to the registration of this title. Previously, and only for purposes of effectiveness before third parties, it was necessary to register the CPR at the Real Estate Registry Office of the issuer's domicile.

With the change made to article 12 of Law 8.929/94, since 01.01.2021, the validity and effectiveness of the CPR and its amendments were subject to the registration and/or deposit of the title in an entity authorized by the Central Bank of Brazil, such as B3 and CERC, for example.

In addition to this condition, registration also transforms the title into a financial asset, which will provide benefits such as greater security and traceability of the circulation of these instruments in the market.
