With the aim of streamlining the procedures for public registration of legal acts and transactions, Provisional Measure (MP) 1085/21 was published on 12/28/2021, which will allow notary offices to carry out their operations through digital means, with the implementation of the Electronic Public Records System (SERP).
This technology will allow, among other functions, the interconnection between departments in different regions, service users and government agencies, for the sharing and provision of information. Among the facilities, with SERP it will be possible to send, receive and file documents such as certificates, titles, registrations, among others, and consult and view the acts registered by the establishments, electronically.
SERP will also enable the use of electronic signatures in operations and the use of data stored in the system to carry out registrations, replacing the presentation of physical documents in some notarial acts.
The MP also deals with other changes in other legislation, but in this bulletin we will present the main changes promoted by the MP specifically related to the implementation of SERP and the legal acts and businesses that can be modernized and simplified with the Public Registries.
